Flags and What
They Mean:

During practice or
races, flags are used
to give riders signals.
Familiarize yourself
with these most
commonly used flags.
Flags and What They Mean




Checkered Flag:





Indicates the end of a race or practice.





Green Flag:




Indicates the start of the race .






Yellow Flag:




Indicates Caution!!!

Ride cautiously until you have passed the
incident that caused the flag. No passing or
jumping is allowed between the flag and
the incident. Failure to do so may result in
the rider being docked from one finishing
position all the way to disqualification from
the event subject to the referee's
discretion.





Red Flag:





The race has been stopped. Reduce your
speed and return to the starting gate.




Black Flag:





Rider is being disqualified. If you are black
flagged exit the course and report to the
referee at once.




White with
Red Cross Flag:




Indicates that ambulances or emergency
personnel are on the track. All riders are to
exercise extreme caution. Slow down and
maintain your position with no passing or
jumping until past the incident.




White Flag:





Indicates that there is one lap to go.






Blue With
Yellow Stripe:



Indicates that you are about to become
overtaken by faster riders. Rider should
hold their line and should not impede the
passing riders' progress
